Achievement

It seems there are two main kinds of achievement. One is basically attaining high marks on the expected path. Good grades, good degrees, doing more and better than the rest of your peers. Difficult but ordinary. The other is doing the unexpected. You meet serious opposition and triumph anyway. You leave the ordinary path behind and enjoy a more extreme kind of achievement. You are first. You must believe, and sometimes you are utterly alone. Controversy, new hopes and whole new worlds follow you.
